Why we develop DetEdit

We believe that current LLMs are capable of analyzing, transforming, and generating text at a high level. The real problem is not the models but the lack of effective tools and interfaces that let people reliably use them.

The product we are developing is a full-featured text editor capable of editing a set of complex documents in various formats while providing an intuitive interface for seamless interactions with LLMs.

An effective editor should provide a well-designed interface for invoking AI tools and incorporating their outputs into the editing workflow. This means offering intuitive, context-aware ways to call models (selection-based commands, keyboard shortcuts, and contextual prompts), clear presentation of suggestions (inline previews, diff views, and provenance/metadata), and simple controls to accept, reject, or refine results, with robust undo and batch-apply options. By enabling users to combine, parameterize, and chain AI functions while keeping full control over edits and document integrity, the editor makes AI assistance seamless, transparent, and directly useful for professional text editing.
