We are excited to announce the first public beta of DetEdit. It is available now as a desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux, and in the browser.

AI actions you define

Write your own prompts, give them names, icons and keyboard shortcuts, and run them on the text you select from the toolbar, the context menu or the keyboard. An edit you make often becomes one keystroke.

Every change as a diff

AI edits are applied to the document and marked as a diff, so you can see exactly what changed. Keep them, or reject them and the text goes back.

A document assistant

Ask the assistant about the document you have open, without pasting anything into a chat window. It can summarise, check a section, or look for problems across the whole file. In this release it reads the document but does not edit it.

What is not there yet

This is a beta. The editor works on plain text, and Markdown files open and edit as source. The assistant cannot make edits from the chat panel yet. We are actively implementing new features and improving existing ones.
